Revisions to the Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) Enforcement Guidelines

Hello all,

We'd like to provide an update on the work on the Enforcement Guidelines for the Universal Code of Conduct. After the conclusion of the community vote on the guidelines in March, the Community Affairs committee (CAC) of the Board asked that several areas of the guidelines be reviewed for improvements before the Board does its final review. These areas were identified based on community discussions and comments provided during the vote. The CAC also requested review of the controversial Note in 3.1 of the UCoC itself.

Once more, a big thank you to all who voted, especially to all who left constructive feedback and comments! The project team is working with the Board to establish a timeline for this work, and will communicate this next month.

Members of the two prior UCoC Drafting Committees have generously offered their time to help shape improvements to the Guidelines. You can read more about them and their work here, as well as read summaries of their weekly meetings in 2022.

Wikimedians have provided many valuable comments together with the vote and in other conversations. Given the size and diversity of the Wikimedia community, there are even more voices out there who can give ideas on how to improve the enforcement guidelines and add even more valuable ideas to the process. To help the Revisions committee identify improvements, input on several questions for the committee’s review is requested. Visit the Meta-wiki pages (Enforcement Guidelines revision discussions, Policy text revision discussions) to get your ideas to the Committee - it is very important that viewpoints are heard from different communities before the Committee begins drafting revision proposals.

sterretje als voetnootmarker

Hoi, op Pagina:Max Havelaar of de Koffiveilingen der Nederlandsche Handelmaatschappy (vyfde druk).djvu/13 probeer ik een asterisk te krijgen in plaats van de [1] als voetnootmarker. Weet iemand hoe dat moet? Hamaryns (overleg) 4 jun 2022 19:20 (CEST)[reageren]

Ik weet niet of dat mogelijk is. Het omgekeerde kan wel (op die betreffende pagina): het 1-tje tussen haakjes veranderen. De software die de voetnoten regelt (<ref>..</ref>, zoals ook op bijv. Wikipedia) maakt standaard (per pagina doorlopende) cijfertjes, voorzover ik weet. --Dick Bos (overleg) 5 jun 2022 12:29 (CEST)[reageren]

The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 7 June. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 8 June. It will be on all wikis from 9 June (calendar).
A new str_replace_regexp() function can be used in abuse filters to replace parts of text using a regular expression. [1]

Recent changes

All wikis can now use Kartographer maps. Kartographer maps now also work on pages with pending changes. [2][3]

Changes later this week

The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 14 June. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 15 June. It will be on all wikis from 16 June (calendar).
Some wikis will be in read-only for a few minutes because of a switch of their main database. It will be performed on 14 June at 06:00 UTC (targeted wikis). [4]
Starting on Wednesday, a new set of Wikipedias will get "Add a link" (Abkhazian Wikipedia, Achinese Wikipedia, Adyghe Wikipedia, Afrikaans Wikipedia, Akan Wikipedia, Alemannisch Wikipedia, Amharic Wikipedia, Aragonese Wikipedia, Old English Wikipedia, Syriac Wikipedia, Egyptian Arabic Wikipedia, Asturian Wikipedia, Atikamekw Wikipedia, Avaric Wikipedia, Aymara Wikipedia, Azerbaijani Wikipedia, South Azerbaijani Wikipedia). This is part of the progressive deployment of this tool to more Wikipedias. The communities can configure how this feature works locally. [5]
The New Topic Tool will be deployed for all editors at Commons, Wikidata, and some other wikis soon. You will be able to opt out from within the tool and in Preferences. [6][7]

Future meetings

The next open meeting with the Web team about Vector (2022) will take place today (13 June). The following meetings will take place on: 28 June, 12 July, 26 July.

Future changes

By the end of July, the Vector 2022 skin should be ready to become the default across all wikis. Discussions on how to adjust it to the communities' needs will begin in the next weeks. It will always be possible to revert to the previous version on an individual basis. Learn more.

Recent changes

The Wikipedia App for Android now has an option for editing the whole page at once, located in the overflow menu (three-dots menu ). [8]
Some recent database changes may affect queries using the Quarry tool. Queries for site_stats at English Wikipedia, Commons, and Wikidata will need to be updated. Read more.
A new user_global_editcount variable can be used in abuse filters to avoid affecting globally active users. [9]

Changes later this week

The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 21 June. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 22 June. It will be on all wikis from 23 June (calendar).
Users of non-responsive skins (e.g. MonoBook or Vector) on mobile devices may notice a slight change in the default zoom level. This is intended to optimize zooming and ensure all interface elements are present on the page (for example the table of contents on Vector 2022). In the unlikely event this causes any problems with how you use the site, we'd love to understand better, please ping Jon (WMF) to any on-wiki conversations. [10]

Future changes

The Beta Feature for DiscussionTools will be updated throughout July. Discussions will look different. You can see some of the proposed changes.
Parsoid's HTML output will soon stop annotating file links with different typeof attribute values, and instead use mw:File for all types. Tool authors should adjust any code that expects: mw:Image, mw:Audio, or mw:Video. [11]

Desktopverbeteringen-update

Dit de nieuwe standaard maken

Hallo. Ik wilde graag een update geven over het Desktopverbeteringen-project, waar het Wikimedia Foundation-webteam de afgelopen jaren aan heeft gewerkt. Ons werk is bijna klaar! 🎉

Wij zouden graag zien dat deze verbeteringen de standaard worden voor lezers en bewerkers op alle wiki's. In de komende weken zullen we gesprekken beginnen op meer wiki's, waaronder die van jou. 🗓️ We lezen graag uw suggesties!

Het doel van het project is om de interface uitnodigender en comfortabeler te maken voor lezers en nuttiger voor gevorderde gebruikers. Het project bestaat uit een reeks functieverbeteringen die het gemakkelijker maken om te lezen en te leren, binnen de pagina te navigeren, te zoeken, te wisselen van taal, artikeltabbladen en het gebruikersmenu te gebruiken, en meer. De verbeteringen zijn standaard al zichtbaar voor lezers en bewerkers op meer dan 30 wiki's, waaronder de Wikipedia's in het Frans, Portugees en Perzisch.

De wijzigingen zijn alleen van toepassing op de skin Vector. Monobook of Timeless worden niet beïnvloed.

De nieuwste functies

Inhoudsopgave - onze versie is gemakkelijker te bereiken, context van de pagina te verkrijgen, en door de pagina te navigeren zonder te hoeven scrollen. Het wordt momenteel getest op onze pilot-wiki's. Het is ook beschikbaar voor bewerkers die zich hebben aangemeld voor de Vector 2022-skin.
Paginahulpmiddelen - er zijn nu twee soorten links in de zijbalk. Er zijn acties en hulpmiddelen voor individuele pagina's (zoals Gerelateerde wijzigingen) en links van wiki-brede aard (zoals Recente wijzigingen). We gaan deze opsplitsen in twee intuïtieve menu's.

Hoe de verbeteringen te activeren

Globale voorkeuren

Het is mogelijk het op individuele wiki's te activeren op het tabblad Uiterlijk in de voorkeuren door "Vector (2022)" te selecteren. Het is ook mogelijk het op alle wiki's tegelijk te activeren met behulp van de Globale voorkeuren.
Op wiki's waar de wijzigingen standaard voor iedereen zichtbaar zijn, kunnen ingelogde gebruikers altijd teruggaan naar de oude Vector. Er is een gemakkelijk toegankelijke link in de zijbalk van de nieuwe Vector.

Invitation to join the fourth Wikisource Triage meeting (29th June 2022)

Hello fellow Wikisource enthusiasts!

We are the hosting the fourth Wikisource Triage meeting on 29th June 2022 at 10:00 AM UTC / 3:30 PM IST (check your local time) according to the wudele poll.

There is some exciting news about a few technical projects related to Wikisource that are getting started right now and we will be sharing more information during the meeting.

As always, you don't have to be a developer to participate in these meetings but the focus of these meetings is to improve the Wikisource infrastructure.

If you are interested in joining the meeting, kindly leave a message on sgill@wikimedia.org and we will add you to the calendar invite.

Recent changes

Wikimedia Enterprise API service now has self-service accounts with free on-demand requests and monthly snapshots (API documentation). Community access via database dumps & Wikimedia Cloud Services continues.
All Wikimedia wikis can now use Wikidata Lexemes in Lua after creating local modules and templates. Discussions are welcome on the project talk page.

Users will be able to sort columns within sortable tables in the mobile skin. [14]
